Game Revolution’s E3 Awards

Posted in Homeworld 2 by on May 29th, 2003

Game-revolution.com has done up it’s awards for E3. Winning the Best Strategy Game was Homeworld 2!

The original Homeworld was a breakthrough strategy game. However, little has been done to improve upon it since it came out back in 1999. Time to change all that with Homeworld II, the prettiest, deepest strategy game at the show. Awesome new gameplay enhancements and a fantastic engine stole our hearts and wowed our eyes.

They obviously didn’t get the Logo Use Guidelines package :-/

HW2 in PC Gamer

Posted in Homeworld 2 by on May 27th, 2003

Looks like the July issue of PC Gamer has a 2 page bit (page 12 and 13) on HW2. Apparently it discusses a bit about the game interface changes, strike groups, and the storyline.

Thanks to the IRC Crew for the info.

Gamespy’s E3 Wrapup

Posted in Homeworld 2 by on May 27th, 2003

Gamespy’s gang has gotten together and posted their E3 Impressions. Overall, they mention it looks like a great year for PC Gaming, and Homeworld 2 is briefly mentioned by Sluggo as being in the crop that made the show “one of the strongest showings for PC games in years”.

Thanks to Retroboy for the heads up.

IC Review @ Game Chronicles

Posted in Impossible Creatures by on May 27th, 2003

Looks like at least one site got it’s review copy of IC 5 months late. Game Chronicles has reviewed IC and scored it a 9.2, and given it the editor’s choice award.

At its core, Impossible Creatures plays by all the same rules and conventions that have been governing the genre for years now. You mine resources, build units, explore maps, engage in combat, and complete various objectives to satisfy the requirements for each campaign. But aside from these primary elements the game diverges into a wild and totally original concept that will captivate even the most jaded RTS gamer.

Check it out here.

There’s a bunch of things happening with Impossible Creatures. First of all, a patch is on its way, and will be available “soon”.

Also, as most of you are probably aware Relic will also be releasing Impossible Creatures: Insect Invasion shortly. To get you excited about that release Relic is allowing a sneak peek at the II stats page (which is being hosted by IC Planet) and which you can check out here.

Someguy’s E3 Shots

Posted in Homeworld 2 by on May 23rd, 2003

Someguy’s posted his E3 shots. There’s several shots of the nVidia booth area, and you can see some new blurry shots of HW2 (similar to the ones I posted earlier). Funny, I had to ditch a bunch of blurry shots as well. This one has Someguy, FoX and I in it. This one has Someguy, Mecha, and Josh in it.
