DoW in German PC Games

Posted in Dawn of War by on February 26th, 2004

Espy posted a recap of the German April PC Games issue.

Text: - Game will have a pause mode in which you can issue orders.
- Races: Marines, Orks, Chaos + one secret faction
- Single player campaings for all 4 races
- 20 multiplayer maps
- game will have seizable objectives just like the tabletop
- morale factors in battle, units will perform worse if morale is low
- 2 resources: energy and “requisition” (probably like reputation in the Panzer General series) gained by securing objectives
- Buildable immobile turrets
- new units bought with reputation are not built, but flown in
- Unit upgrades can be programmed in advance and are applied automatically as soon as they become availiable

RDN Tools Mirror(s)

Posted in Relic by on February 20th, 2004

Some of you may be happy to know that Relic has given the ok to release the RDN tools to mirror sites. Some of the packages have also been re-released as executables (and now include a license agreement). Relic News has mirrored all RDN tools here.

Oh, and just a note, if you’re planning to mirror the files, be sure to mirror the executable HW2 files, not the zip files that can be grabbed off RDN.

I’ll update this post (or someone else will) as soon as more mirrors become available.

HW2 European Patch Update

Posted in Homeworld 2 by on February 19th, 2004

As Spanish, French, German and Italian HW2 players may know, the HW2 1.1 patch was released by Sierra with a problem in the SP game. Basically, that the speech did not play during the cutscenes.

To fix this problem, Relic’s done up some < language >.big files to sort out the problem. The 1.1 patch for those languages should eventually be updated to contain these new files.

Download your language file here:

Spanish.
Italian.
German.
French.

Files should be saved to your homeworld2data directory.

The Polish, Russian, and Korean patches are still in localisation.
