Preliminary Changelog For DoW 1.5 Available

Breaking with the tradition of not announcing patch details until the patch is finalized, Tranj from THQ has posted a preliminary pre-beta changelog for the upcoming patch 1.5 for Dawn of War. Please note that these changes are preliminary and probably subject to change. They have been posted to give the players an idea of what the balance team is working on.
There will also be a closed beta with limited public access, where community members get to beta-test the new patch before it is finalized and released. Details about this beta have not been announced yet.

im glad to see the chaos are being re-strengthened again.
as a whole i like the changes being made and im sure players who paly standard start will much enjoy them.

as a quick start only player can i suggest the Eldar having an anti-terminator/oblitorator/mega armored nob squad. in writing it looks as though this should be the reapers but a friend and i did some experimenting with SM vs ELDAR, im sure you already know but the only thing that could stand upto a full compliment of assault terminators and predators was a full compliment of warp spiders (23/24 and 30/30) and prisms…. I will add that this setup absolutly creamed thespace marines but that also it is extremly hard to co-ordinatle the prisms and warp spiders to “hang out”beside each other in order to defend against the ASM spam so prevalant in WA. i see you reduced the ammount of prisms available to the eldar. this may look good on paper because an all out war between sm and E may be more equalized but dont forget that AT can deep strike to reenforce… so its really not so IMBA. space marine AT are the real imba and they need to be significantly weakened if your going to reduce the ammount of prisms available.

also, space marines can reach AT capability within 6-7 mins with a decent player. Eldar takes 9-10 mins to get prisms and about an extra 2 mins to get an avatar.

The IG are the noobs choice in a quick start game. when anybody like me (65% and up) see’s an IG player join. we immidiatly know he is a noob (IN QS). IG needs a stronger Tier 3 setup. the bane blade needs to be better at killing AT units (takes 2 at squads to cripple a baneblade) and maybe given an option for super heavy weapons in tier 3 to compete with oblits/termies/prisms and warpies.

maybe distribute a software that comunicates back to you the outcomes of tactical battles from every game so that you can get real world feedback from actual battles played and maybe better chances of only having to make one patch after this one.

finally. I CANT WAIT TO PLAY THE NEW EXPANSION!!!!. those necrons look bad ass :)

I agree with dan reed that the at are a little too strong to be faced against just about any other force so early in the game.. I am a qs buff as well, cause standard just bores me..(not a noob) just choose qs as my option.. I play as chaos and sm, and because I am so sick of the at spam so early in the game, I have quickly changed to chaos only.. I like how u changed the oblits from reg. DOW to assault, having start out with three instead of 1, and my beef is that u can’t get oblits or …….. damn, well the flamey guys. until 9-10 mins. like the eldar..if the sm can get there high power guys in 6.5 mins, u should at least give some of the other races a sooner chance to build a great defence, also the chaos raptors take way too long to upgrade.. maybe build time down by 30 secs????? So now that I have introduced my point of veiw from my players standpoint, let me mention 1 big thing I see…… It would seem thaty the orks are a thing of the past now.. nobody uses them anymore, they are fairly complicated, and weak against almost anything, so unless u get to teir 3, ur screwed.. and fast… And like dan said, the ig are a great race, but their power needs to be upped conciderably in order to stand and kind of defence at all… All I am saying here is that even though u have 2 great new races coming out, we need to see more of the 1’s we have now as it is.. so if we can make all the races fairly even, with 7 races total, this will be totally awesome, looking forward to seeing more orks, and ig in qs games, have fun, and great luck with the new patch, and xpansion
