Update On CoH Patch

Posted in Company of Heroes by on October 13th, 2006

Raphael van Lierop from Relic posted this on our forums:

Just an update. This patch will address a wide variety of issues covering pretty much every area of the game — SP missions, gameplay, some art, performance issues, balance tweaks, along with some of the other things Tranj has already mentioned.

As I’m sure you can appreciate, patching a game like CoH is a hugely complex process which involves extensive testing of the entire game, and every version (so, all locales — US, UK, Germany, France, etc. etc.).

Hopefully this gives you some idea of why it takes a bit of time to put this stuff together and to validate our fix list.

Once we know EXACTLY what has been fixed, we’ll post the list for you guys to rant/rave about.

Thanks for your patience!

In addition, once QA has validated the patch we can expect a full changelog. This may take the aforementioned one or two weeks though.

For those of you wondering why this is taking so long, QA is the final stage of patch testing. They attempt to find bugs with the patch, and if they find any the whole thing gets sent back to the developers, who then fix it and re-submit it to QA. This may seem like a long-winded process, but it is necessary in order to keep the patches as bug-free as possible.

in relic we trust. :) one of the best game companies around, genre defining game awesome graphics and true playablitiy with all their RTS titles. They actually care about balance issues and bugs…. EA on the other hand, well the BF2142 demo has to be hotfixed before you can actually play it…

Looking forward to the patch. I’m one of the people forced to task-switch from COH and back, once I’ve loaded a mission. The gameplay keeps me comming back for more through, despite the fact that I’m through the campaign.

On EA and patching.. as some guy wrote: They’re the kind of company thats more eager to ship a new product, than fix their recent one (read Battlefield2). BF2 is still flawed. I want a BF2 that works.. not a new futuristic take on the concept.

I have been notified by some players that the issue with multiplayer and connecting with the error: “Could not connect to all players” is a widespread issue. Even with firewalls disabled and ports opened the error remains a majority of the time. Here’s hoping Relic release another patch soon to resolve this issue.

that issue that regards to not being able to connect to all players, thats a problem with nearly all rts’s. my friend had that problem with command and conquer generals, lord of the rings battle for middle earth AND this game, he contacted his ISP and the guy told him to change certain options that had to do with the modem or router and the problem got fixed. he has a obscure ISP, that might have contirbuted to his problem. so in conclusion tis not really the game, call ur ISP and tell them your problem and if ur lucky ull get a smart operator and he’ll get that fixed for you

I myself just want to say I love this game. My current favorite. But I have a problem with the patch. First of all, I have a Nvidia 7950 GTX OC in my computer. Without the patch the game runs ok, but not as good as it should. With the patch the game runs a ton smoother, the way it should. However my ground texture maps flicker now like crazy. Don’t know if anyone else is experiancing this or not. If anyone has any helpful hints about a way to fix it that would be great, otherwise I’ll just hope the next patch fixes it.

yeah the textures flicker ike that when ur video card is overoverclocked. video cards start commiting errors and the flickering of the textured happen. try loweing the clock speed to ur video card. i have a normal 7800 and when i over clock it the texture thing happens, when i dont i have no problems whatso ever and im able to run it on uber high, so just suck in that pride and lower the clock speed lolz =)

Actually I have twin 7950’s in SLI and I see the flickering as well. It seems to be related to areas in which the terrain has been mutilated. I am NOT overclocking the GPU at all.

yeah u think ur not overclocking it but the 7950 comes overclocked thats why it has a huge a55 fan

Is it possible to get a patch that allows my raedon 9200 card to run the COH, or can I clock the card??
