Sisters of Battle in Dawn of War:SoulStorm

Posted in Dawn of War by on October 26th, 2007

Looks like the Sisters of Battle will be the 2nd race for the Sisters of Battle expansion.

There’s a ton of info in the article over at gamespot, including this bit about achievements.

Finally, Soulstorm will introduce achievements, which will help reward longtime players online, though these are not Games for Windows - Live achievements. Dawn of War is a popular multiplayer game thanks to the fact that it lets you take all those incredibly elaborate, detailed units online to crush other players. Each faction will have its own unique achievements, such as Force Commander, which is rewarded if you win 25 ranked games with the Space Marines. Or there are general achievements, like Hot Streak, which you get if you win 10 online matches in a row. These new achievements should help fuel the competitive fires in terms of multiplayer.

Check it out!.

That’s the third expansion… THIRD! Nine races in multiplayer. Freakin’ NINE! The campaign takes place on 4 planets and 3 moons! I’m actually quite excited for this!

Spectacular! Can’t wait to see a screenshot of the risk-style map.

… They’re publishing dark eldar and sisters of battle and not Tyranids… This is a bad joke =(. Seriously wtf worthy. Dark Eldar are so craptacular that they aren’t even reappearing in the mini game and they’re skipping one of the core races. It was bad enough that they skipped nids to do Tau and Necrons.

Tevelyn:

It’s been stated many times that the current DoW engine won’t support Nids because it doesn’t really allow the Nids to be used properly.

I suspect a Dawn of War 2 might be in the pipeline, and I also suspect it’ll be using an upgraded Essence engine (that was used for CoH).

i completely disagree tau nd necrons amazing armies dark eldar a sick army they will do well in dawn of war sisters im a bit edgy on what they could have but im looking forward to it the fact your going on about nids is stupid i completely agree with uberjumper the current dow gaming engine will not support nids when did you ever see nids establish a base they r just brutal killers who come over in waves and it seems pointless to make more than 2 squads because all that die will be turned into more nids! It seriously wouldnt work im guessing your a nids fan lol Im a necron and dark eldar model collector and this is exactly the kinda boost both armies needed especially dark eldar as theyre pretty old and with the small amount of collectors witch hunters could do with it aswell.

Ironically, the SoB screenshots posted on Gamespot is nowhere near the visual quality of the french fan mod. I’m sure the army composition and tactics will be as good as everything we’ve seen before, if not better, but why publish something that is visually so far behind the fan-created content? Why not get in touch with the Witch Hunters mod team and see what they’ve got before releasing sub-par material :/

Mir:

If they made the SoB look as good as the French Mod (which is obviously possible using the current DoW engine) they’d look out of place, since the other races still have 4 year old textures…

i think they should reskin all the models to make them look cooler ( like the french mod

I think the achievement feature will bring down the teamplay and let players screw up the game more .
There are lot of selfish and j*rk players around that bring down all the fun.

And with this new feature theoretically those and maybe new players focus to much on the achievements and start playing (more) nasty, or even cheat one way or another.

My personal experience with the game is that it rocks, no bad thing at all to mention, except there are players that screw up the game by dropping, lagging, or playing nasty.
For me this so annoying that i havn’t played for a long time, cause each game i joined somebody dropped at gamestart or even in the game or lagged.

I hope someone can convince me that it will improve the multiplayer experience, or not make it worse.
