Darkwind212 took a picture of an ad from PC Gamer UK for their next upcoming issue. It reads “Special Exclusive: Are you ready for a new dawn?”
This photo is the picture in question.
You guys can discuss in this thread
Thanks gorays!

Homeworld is FAR more deserving of a sequel than Dawn of War. We Homeworld fans have been waiting THREE years now for an official say on weather or not there will be another game.
Homeworld is also an original title, as opposed to DOW, which is Warhammer 40K from Games Workshop. If Homeworld 3 isn’t in the works, does this mean that Relic has given up on making original games?

Makes perfect sense to me:
THQ secured W40K licence up to…2010? and given GW IP’s policy, I doubt it is cheap.
What would be the point not to use it and surf on the popularity of DoW ?
Market-wise it is MUCH easier to build upon GW’s licence.
Homeworld was pretty neat but its gameplay and interface are just not as sexy for a broad gamer audience.
Plus all the tech Relic has built so far is far more adapted for a ground-based RTS.
It is not a question of “deserving” but a matter of profit.

Norsehound:
RTS games which require more thinking along the Z axis are are much harder to grasp than an RTS which is focused mostly along a 2D plane. As such, they don’t make as many sales.
I suspect Relic’s working on a Homeworld game, but I don’t expect it to be an RTS. If it is an RTS, I think it’ll be something like Sins of a Solar Empire. Something with much less Z axis.

To say that Homeworld deserves a sequel more than DoW is rubbish. DoW is massively popular as evidenced by the number of expansions, besides there’s already a Homeworld 2!
Also, DoW is more fun.

Homeworld 2 was the last game from Relic i bought. I am not interested in the WH40K franchise or another WW2 RTS, There are too much WW2 games yet.

@Über,
Yes, you are right, but a HW game without Z axis is not HW.

@Kha
I second Überjumper on that:
I doubt Relic reacquired the rights for HW to let it gather some dust in the attic anyway.
Parallel developments are now a necessity in the game industry, I’m sure Relic does it too.
I get your point and I sympathise for I’m no big fan of WWII games, but it seems that is more of the same you are after too.
Getting a broader audience into HW would implies some changes that could turn off its core audience
navigation system was a good exampleRTS gamers remain a close and non-expanding community,so getting successful means staying trendy.
HW is an elegant game, but in many respects its very charm is due to its huge exotism to the genre.
A crude reality as well is that marketting is not good at selling “non-character-oriented” IPs.
I mean by that selling a spaceshipe and stellar system in front cover is not going to work half as well than babes/soldiers/plumbers…
For all those reason I guess HW needs to move away from RTS to get bigger, it was too daring and intelectual for its own good.
As for me DoW2 is good enough, I enjoy the franchise and what Relic has done with it so far, if there is a choice to be made,I think numbers are on my side^^
