If you liked Goodkind, I’d recommend Steven Erikson’s Malazan Book of the Fallen series starting with Gardens of the Moon. Complicated, but awesome.

The third book in His Dark Materials was a little underwhelming (IMO) but it still easily beats 99% of other kid’s or adult novels out there. The Trilogy is a phenomenal piece of genius. Who else but Pullman could not only pull off talking polar bears, but also make Iorek Byrnison easily one of the best characters in the series?

The movie looks good. Good cast. Good feel. Good times.
