I’m a 28-year-old freelance writer… well, 28 5/7, actually, since I’ll be 29 in less than 2 months. Anyway. I’m a writer, an editor, a proofreader, a comic artist, a former nationally-ranked fencer in the US Fencing Association, and a not-very-active-as-of-late rapier fencer and Lord in the Society for Creative Anachronism. I’ve got 2 cats, a roommate that I don’t see that often, and a lot of books… including more books on writing, the English language, and random historical reference stuff than anyone has any right to have.
notable events
Was elevated to co-lead of the Depth of Heresy mod by Kjon, though I don’t think that either one of us really bothered to tell anyone else about that. I also managed to bring a golden raspberry vine back from near death, and as a result now have 3 vines growing and about 15 more that are just starting to sprout. I’m going to have a crap-ton of raspberries next year… which means I’ll probably make a golden raspberry pie.

Many pics in the yearbook have people up against a fence… you take a slightly different approach… up against a fencer.

FifteenHours: Well, when it comes down to the actual math it actually works out to something akin to 3/20… though that’s with a bit of rounding and such. laughs

Actually, it’s just foil… I was just wearing my tunic-style fencing jacket that day instead of the standard white one.

A fellow fencer! Cool! I prefer Epee myself (and Saber is too maniacal for my tastes), but I won’t knock someone who prefers foil.

I was actually a 3-weapon fencer, though sabre was my least favorite… I liked foil a bit better than epee, but not a whole lot (as I was a fan of both.)

You dislike the manaiacal Saber guys? I don’t blame you. lots of bruises from that. Basic Foil is my favorite for that reason.

Well, actually the name’s “John”... though most of the time I either go by “J.” or just “Casteele.” smiles
And for the record, I do have more beard now. Mostly ‘cuz I just don’t like shaving. Until it gets itchy or somethin’. laughs
